First the measurements for the 4/4 size, since I could not find these anywhere online... Nut Width - 2 1/8" At Bridge - 2 1/4" Scale Length - 25 11/16" Body Length - 19" Body Depth - 3 3/4" front to back Upper Bout - 11 2/4" Waist - 10 1/4" Lower Bout - 15" The Good - It plays nice right out of the box, and after the strings stretched in it stays in tune OK. The neck is ruler straight, and the frets are nice & level, no sharp edges. The tuning keys feel OK, and after a little tightening, work as expected. The neck has a nice, thin thickness, and the fret board is nice & flat. The overall tone of this guitar is surprisingly good & pretty well balanced And it fits perfect in the Black Musicians Gear Deluxe Classical Case. The Bad - Nicks, glue, and particles under the finish galore. The fret board is painted a flat black, and besides the over spray all over, it comes off on your fingers. Major knife marks & some splitting in the wood beside a few of the frets. Intonation is out after the 6th fret for the G & B strings. The carrying bag is a vinyl bag. The guitar has a STRONG glue & paint smell, and the bag also smells strong. I paid $36 after coupons & free shipping, and it was worth that, but I would be hard pressed to recommend this for $50. I bought this to add some "flavor" to my demo recording, and it should work fine for that. At his price it is not really worth the hassle to send it back after shipping. Overall, a cheap guitar that is OK, but I would save up for the lower line Yamaha, it is a much better instrument.
We are indeed enthused with our 30 + 3, 3/4 size nylon acoustic guitars. They arrived promptly and and are perfect size for our 5th & 6th grade music students. All the instruments are in excellent condition and the price was great. Having 3 extra because we bought 30 has made it possible for every student to have their own instrument. We definitely recommend this size guitar and Lyons service and prices to all school districts.
My wife runs a private music school, and has several classical guitar classes. This instrument has been a godsend. It's not only very good sounding and easily playable for little hands, but - especially important in an economically depressed area - it's affordable for everyone. While technically a good student will probably want a more expensive instrument in a couple years, this one is ideal for developing their skills up to that point, and will probably be one that can be passed down to the next student in the family for quite a few years. For the money, a best buy.
