"Whacky for Boomwhackers"

These are versatile, inexpensive, and portable instruments that are easy for EVERYONE to play. They're easy to carry around if you're on a cart. If you're in a room without many instruments, this is an inexpensive way to add instruments to your classroom. They also don't take up a lot of space and are easy to store. I use them with different reading techniques. I use colored markers to write the words on a board or large poster. The words of a song are written in the color of the boomwhacker needed to play that word. You can also use the markers to write out the rhythms, or write the notes in color on the staff. When writing on the staff, you can also use colored dot stickers for your noteheads. Students with special needs can easily play this instrument, by hitting on the floor or their hand, or by hitting with a mallet. You can give children one tube, two tubes of the same color, or two different colored tubes. It's versatility is endless!!
